Under the Gaeltacht Act, every Gaeltacht area must prepare a language plan to remain classified as a Gaeltacht area. Gaeltacht status depends upon acceptance of this plan by Roinn na Gaeltachta, and not as it currently is, on geographical grounds.
Gaeltacht status depends upon the success of this language plan
There are representatives from community groups and organisations on Coiste Pleanála Teanga Chloich Cheann Fhaola. We will be asking you what you think of the Irish Language. If it’s important to you, how do we make sure it survives.
This language plan concerns all members of our community, regardless of whether or not you speak Irish. We need you to share your opinion on the Irish language with us. In doing so we can seek the services that we all require in Cloich Cheann Fhaola
